Yordanka Fandakova, mayor of the capital Sofia informed through her official Facebook page that a new sports hall with basketball, volleyball, badminton and tennis courts will be built in Slatina district. The hall is being constructed on municipal grounds through a public-private partnership with the Buba Basketball Club.
She stated that the project also provides for three outdoor fields. The investment is from 13 million. Lv, following the decision of the municipal council, which was approved on April 27, 2023, after the decision to grant a right for construction, the design begins, and the term for construction is 24 months.
The Mayor of Sofia informed that the hall and the field will be available to use free of charge by students and citizens at selected hours – a total of 118 hours a week. She also uploaded a concept video of the courts, demonstrating how it will look after the construction is complete and ready for use.
Displaying the ongoing projects in Sofia currently under construction, Mayor Fandakova reported that the new kindergarten in the Hope district will be completed by the end of June. In the summer, its furnishing should be completed.
The garden is for six groups and is part of the program for constructing kindergartens in all regions of Sofia. The mayors of districts do the design and construction of the new kindergartens.
The Mayor of Sofia expressed that, unfortunately, some mayors of districts have been sensitively delayed and have yet to complete a single kindergarten in the area they manage since the beginning of their term.
She claimed that a contractor has already been chosen for the construction of a new school and kindergarten in “Monastery Meadows-West”. “We will build the first garden and school for the neighbourhood on the field of the destroyed building of the 13th Century Bulgaria Fund”, said Mayor Fandakova.
Twenty-one buildings of new kindergartens are currently being built in the municipality, and the expectations are that 17 of them will be completed by the end of the year.
