Roseau, Dominica: On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, Melissa Poponne Skerrit, the Dominican Minister of Housing and Urban Development and Parliamentary Representative for Roseau Central Constituency, visited the construction site for the Scottshead, Soufriere, and Grand Bay Housing Development.
Melissa Skerrit posted pictures from her site visit on his official Facebook account and expressed her happiness at the progress of the development work. She thoroughly examined the development and highlighted that for the country, growth is essential.
Melissa Skerrit noted the critical work completed on the Scottshead and Soufriere Housing Development and commented, “Development across the island is crucial to our growth as a nation”. Here is a glimpse at the ongoing Scottshead and Soufriere developments.
For April 2023, Scottshead and Soufriere Housing Program’s progress is mentioned below-
The Housing Development Programme at Scottshead and Soufriere has made around 65% of its progress. There are two four (1) bedroom duplexes. Construction of thirteen (3) bedroom bungalows has been underway on the property.
Additionally, Melissa Skerrit visited the Grand Bay Housing Programme locations and praised the construction process. The housing unit was also shown in brief glimpses, and she added, “I also visited the Grand Bay Housing Development and toured the site to assess the progress being made.”
According to Melissa Skerrit, Dominica’s administration is devoted to promoting the well-being of the island country and its citizens.
After Scottshead, the advancement in Grand Bay Housing Programme for April 2023 is mentioned below-
The Grand Bay Housing Programme has made about 56.25 per cent of development. It includes rebuilding petroleum cases, Bungalows with eighty-two (3) bedrooms, sixteen bungalows with two bedrooms, a neighbourhood Centre, upgraded Fire station shops and a church.
Following Hurricane Maria, the Dominican government began building climate-resilient homes to reduce the effects of climate change.
More than 1500 climate-resilient homes have already been given by the government to those affected by Hurricane Irma.
It is one of the steps the government is taking towards achieving its objective of becoming the first country in the world to be climate-resilient.
