Sofia, Bulgaria: The daily toll of the COVID reported in the last 24 hours has witnessed a hike. A total of additional 595 new cases have been recorded in Bulgaria as per the information shared in the unified information portal of June 28. 

This takes the overall count of the active COVID infections in Bulgaria to 60,930 and of the confirmed cases (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 1,170,686. Nearly 57.48% of the new cases were not vaccinated.

Along with this, there are a total of 987 COVID patients who got recovered from the deadliest mutant and have been discharged from the hospital facilities, bringing the total recovery rate of Bulgaria to 1,072,509. 

Only one COVID patient yesterday lost the battle with the mutant, taking the total death rate of the country to 37,247, according to the official data shared in the portal. Currently, there are a total of 329 patients in the hospital facilities, including the recently 63 admitted patients. Of this total number, 26 patients are in intensive care units – ICU. 

71.43% of the newly admitted patients in the hospital facilities were unvaccinated, the official data adds. 

Till June 27, there are a total of 2,061,478 individuals in the European country who had taken their required number of the COVID-19 vaccines and are now in the category of fully vaccinated population. This number of individuals represents around 29.8% of the total targeted eligible population of Bulgaria, the data then notes. 

In addition, a total of three cases of the monkeypox outbreak have been reported in the European country. The confirmation of the cases has been given by the health ministry itself.
