COVID in Bulgaria: 240 people tests positive for virus

These new cases have been detected from the additional 3722 tests conducted by the healthcare facilities at the testing sites. The positivity rate of the new cases accounts for around 6.4%. Of these new cases, 63.8% belonged to the category of unvaccinated individuals.

Sofia, Bulgaria: The Balkan state of Bulgaria recorded a total of additional 240 cases of the contagious COVID-19 mutant during the last 24 hours. The data has been shared in the unified information portal of June 17, 2022. There have been an increase of eighty-eight (88) novel coronavirus cases.  

These new cases have been detected from the additional 3722 tests conducted by the healthcare facilities at the testing sites. The positivity rate of the new cases accounts for around 6.4%. Of these new cases, 63.8% belonged to the category of unvaccinated individuals.

Along with this, a total of nine (9) individuals have lost their lives to the deadliest mutant during the last 24 hours, bringing the total count of Bulgaria’s death rate to 37,219 since the COVID-19 pandemic began. All the deceased were not vaccinated against the novel coronavirus. 

While there are a total of 1269 Bulgarians who have got recovered from the contagious virus and have been discharged from the hospital facilities, the portal’s data further adds. 

Currently, there are a total of 251 patients with the COVID in the hospital facilities of Bulgaria, including the recently admitted twenty-four (24) patients during the past day. 70.8% of the newly admitted patients were unvaccinated. There are a total of twenty-nine (29) patients in intensive care units – ICU. 

Additional 507 doses of the vaccines have been administered in the European country in the last 24 hours. This takes the total administered COVID doses toll to 4,402,422, the portal’s data further reveals. 

The covid vaccination rate of Bulgaria – 

Till June 16, there are a total of 2,060,841 individuals in Bulgaria who had taken their required recommended number of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines and are now in the category of fully immunized. This number of Bulgarians represents around 29.7% of the total targeted eligible population of the Balkan state.
