World leaders and WHO Officials extended greetings and congratulations to the Director-General of the international Health agency – Dr Tedros, for retaining the same position for the second time in a row.

Earlier, Dr Tedros was elected as WHO’s Director-General in 2017. His next tenure will commence in the month of August.

Below are the wishes of leaders to Dr Tedros –

Barbados’ Ambassador to the UN at Geneva & Vienna – Chad Blackman, asserted, “Barbados is pleased with the reelection of DR Tedros as the Director-General of the WHO. We look forward to working with you further and closely during your second term“.

CEO of GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance – Seth Berkley, cited, “Congratulations, Dr Tedros, on your official reelection. In these turbulent times, the world needs your leadership and vision. I look forward to continuing working closely together as you serve a second term as WHO Director-General“.

My warmest congratulations to Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus for your reelection as WHO Director-General. I look forward to continuing our close cooperation to reinforce the WHO and build stronger world pandemic preparedness for the benefit of all“, underscores European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety – Stella Kyriakides.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations – Amina J Mohammed, while congratulating, asserted, “Director-General Dr Tedros has led WHO through challenging public health crises including the COVID-19 pandemic. I send him my warm congratulations on his reelection and look forward to working together to keep the promise of #SDG3: Good Health for All“.

UN Special Envoy for Climate Ambition & Solutions – Mike Bloomberg tweeted, “There is no better choice than Dr Tedros to lead the WHO in this critical moment for global health, and I congratulate him on his reelection to a second term as Director-General. I look forward to his continued leadership and partnership“.

U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva – Ambassador Sheba Crocker, stated, “Congratulations to Dr Tedros on his re-election as the WHO Director-General. The U.S. looks forward to continuing our work together to strengthen the WHO to ensure it is fit for purpose to address current & future health challenges“.
