Sofia, Bulgaria: During today’s (Wednesday, April 13, 2022) meeting of the Council of Ministers, the Bulgarian Prime Minister – Kiril Petkov, speaking on the road builders’ protests, stated that the proposal for immediate payment to the construction firms would pass via a legal commission.
Prime Minister Petkov asserted, “Today, we hope that the proposal for immediate payment of more than 600 million to the construction firms will pass through a legal commission, which is, however, 50% of the money owed to them.”
Following the above statement, he then added, “The remaining 50%, together with the Ministry of Regional Development, would go through an expert commission to assess whether the money was spent properly & after this assessment, there would be a parliamentary sanction for approving these funds.”
PM Petkov stated, “We will approve a draft agreement between Bulgaria & Romania on the establishment of the – Ruse-Giurgiu border checkpoint in order to renew the Ruse-Giurgiu ferry line. I hope the people who expect these funds would be satisfied.”
According to Prime Minister Petkov, if the proposal is presented in the hall tomorrow, then the money will be prepared to be allocated so that the repair companies can start their work immediately.
Apart from this, around thirty-two million sum amount has been allocated to the State Fund “Agriculture” with the purpose of providing support to the farmers.
