Sofia, Bulgaria: The European nation has recorded a total of 683 additional cases of COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours, as of April 8, 2022, according to the data shared in the unified information portal. This takes the total number of the active COVID-19 infections in Bulgaria to 169,884. 

Meanwhile, the overall count of the confirmed novel coronavirus infections has hiked to 1,144,107 as of April 8, 2022. The data shows that the positivity rate of the new cases is 6.88%.

Along with this, a total of seventeen (17) patients of the contagious COVID-19 virus lost their lives to the mutant in the past 24 hours, as of April 8. This brings the total death rate of the European country to 36 672 to date. 

There are a total of 2421 COVID-19 patients who recovered from the virus, taking the total number of the country’s recovery rate of Bulgaria to 937 551. For the present time, there are a total of 1350 patients in the COVID-19 hospital facilities, including the newly admitted 139 patients. 

There are a total of 156 patients who are in intensive care units – ICU, which is nine less than the data compared to the April 7 report. The last 24 hours also witnessed the administration of 1557 COVID-19 vaccines in the European nation. 

COVID Vaccination rate of the European country: 

In Bulgaria, to date, there are a total of 2,051,896 individuals who have taken their required number of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines and are in the category of fully vaccinated ones. This number of individuals accounts for around 29.6% of the total targeted eligible Bulgarian population. 

On the other hand, there are a total of 729,603 individuals who are fully vaccinated and have taken their third dose, that is, booster shots of the COVID vaccines, as per the official data.
