Sofia, Bulgaria: The unified information portal states that a total of 726 fresh SARS-CoV-2 cases were recorded in the past 24 hours, as of April 7, 2022, of the total 10,356 COVID-19 tests conducted in Bulgaria. The positivity rate of these new COVID-19 infections stands at 7.01%. 

This takes the total number of active novel coronavirus cases in the country to 171 639, as of April 7. Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the European nation has increased to 1 143 424.

Along with this, at least nineteen (19) patients of the viral disease scummed to the mutant in the past 24 hours, taking the total tally of the country’s death rate to 36 655 by April 7.  

The data of the official portal further states that there are a total of 1290 patients who recovered from the viral illness and have been discharged from the hospital facilities in Bulgaria. With this, the total count of the COVID-19 related recoveries has hiked to 935 130 till now. 

Currently, the COVID morbidity rate of the European nation stands at 199.28 per 100 000 population. 

For the present time, in Bulgaria, there are a total of 1373 COVID19 patients in the hospitals, including the newly admitted 115 patients. In intensive care units – ICU, there are a total of 165 patients, which is less than the number shared in the daily COVID update report of April 6.  

In terms of vaccination, there are a total of 2,051,667 Bulgarian nationals who so far have taken their required number of the COVID-19 jabs and are now fully immunized against the contagious virus. This number of people represents nearly 29.6% of the total targeted eligible population. 

On the other hand, there are a total of 728,383 individuals who are fully vaccinated and have also taken their third dose, which is a booster shot of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines.
