Bulgaria reports additional 1943 COVID infections in 24 hrs

Sofia, Bulgaria: The European country recorded fresh 1943 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, as of March 23, 2022 (Wednesday), according to the information shared in the unified information portal. The positivity rate of additional COVID infections stands at 13.11%. 

This brings the overall number of an active novel coronavirus in Bulgaria to 191,282, as of March 23, meanwhile taking the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,128,089. A total of 14 820 COVID-19 tests were conducted by the healthcare facilities of Bulgaria in a day, of which the additional cases resulted positive for the viral disease. 

Along with new infections, a total of twenty (20) individuals scummed to the mutant, as of March 23, taking the overall death rate of Bulgaria to 36 350, according to the data shared in the official portal. 

Meanwhile, there are a total of 1305 patients of the novel coronavirus who recovered from the virus and got discharged from the hospital facilities as of March 23, 2022. For the present time, the total recovery rate of the country stands at 900,457.  

Currently, there are a total of 2055 COVID-19 patients in the hospital facilities of Bulgaria, including the newly admitted 246 COVID-19 cases. 

A total of 236 patients are in the intensive care unit – ICU for the present time, which is ten less than that of the data given in the March 22 report. 

Till March 22, there are a total of 2,048,030 individuals who have taken their required jabs of the COVID vaccines and are in the category of the fully immunized population. This number of individuals accounts for around 29.6% of the total Bulgarian eligible targeted population. 

On the other hand, there are a total of 713,476 citizens of Bulgaria who are fully vaccinated and have also taken their third dose (booster shots) of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines.
