Indian Tokyo Olympics medalists Ravi Dahiya and Bajrang Punia will also join the top wrestlers in the special training camp in Teteven, Bulgaria, which will be held from February 5 to 23, 2022. Fourteen wrestlers from the Republic of India will be participating in the training camp, including four freestyle and 4 Greco-Roman wrestlers apart from four sparring partners and two coaches.    

Wrestling Federation of India’s president – Shri Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, asserted that “We appreciate speedy approval from the Sports Authority of India – (SAI) for the wrestlers’ camp & a special training ahead of the Asian championships, Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games“.   

On their return back to their country, both of the Indian wrestlers are going to participate in the National camp for 83 male wrestlers at Sonipat, Haryana.   

Wrestling in Bulgaria: 

Wrestling is one of the most popular and as well as potent sports which is played in Bulgaria. To date, the Bulgarian wrestlers have earned and established their name among the sporting stars of the sport. 

Wrestlers of the European country have won a total of 68 medals, out of which 16 are gold, 32 silver and 20 bronze. Meanwhile, Weightlifting is the second most famous and discipline sport played by Bulgarian athletes, in which a total of thirty-six medals in the different categories of the sporting event.  

Among the most famous wrestlers of the European country are: André the Giant, Rusev, Miro, Valentin Yordanov, Kotooshu Katsunori, Dan Kolov, Evelin Banev, Vasil Iliev, Sergei Mureiko and numerous others. 

The Ministry of Sports and Wellness of Bulgaria is trying their every bit to promote good health and fitness among the general public, especially youth, by providing possibilities and appropriate conditions for the citizens to practice sport for a healthy and long life, creating normative provisions for the physical education and sport in the country and creating conditions and supporting the sport for all. 

The ministry is also Constructing, maintaining, modernising and managing sports sites and installations, Assisting, coordinating, regulating and controlling the activity of the sports organisations, and financing the programmes and projects for socially beneficial sports activity.
