Covid-19: Bulgaria reports 11,049 new cases, 132 deaths in the past day

According to the unified information portal on January 25, Bulgaria reported 11,049 Covid-19 new cases in the past day, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 891,277. As many as 45,885 tests were done, out of which 24.08 percent were tested positive.

During the same time, 132 people lost their lives due to the deadly virus. According to the latest update on the portal, the total number of deaths reported in the country since the pandemic has begun is 32,796. According to the reports, out of dead people 91 percent were not vaccinated.


So far, Bulgaria has around 207,491 active cases; in the past day, 6,513 active cases were added to the tally.

Till now, around 5,327 people have been admitted to the hospital due to Covid-19; 949 were admitted in the last 24 hours. Of these, 517 patients are under intensive care.

As many as 178 health staff members tested positive for the virus in the past day, taking the tally to 19,681.

As here, 4,104,975 people have taken the doses of vaccines against Covid-19 in Bulgaria; out of these, 6,890 received the jab on the last day. A total of 1,977,975 Bulgarians have taken complete vaccination, including 1,667 in the past day. However, 573,669 people have received a booster dose of the vaccine.

Bulgaria’s national Covid-19 morbidity rate is 1505.07 per 100,000 population on a 14-day basis, according to the unified information site on January 25, up from 1426.72.

As of January 25, 26 out of 28 Bulgarian districts have been categorized as the dark red zones, whereas only two districts are in the red zone.

Despite such a surge in the Covid-19 cases, Bulgaria has the lowest vaccination rate among the nations in the European Union, according to the statics by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control’s vaccine tracker.
