Dominica: Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit recently visited the site of the most anticipated cable Car project in the country. The cable car is expected to enhance the tourism product of the nation and attract several travellers to the island nation.

Once constructed, The Dominica will have the world’s longest cable car making travel easier to one of the natural highlights of the island, the Boiling lake. The Prime Minister was accompanying the members of his cabinet including the Minister of Tourism, Denise Charles-Pemberton.

Minister of Finance, Irwing McIntyre was also present at the construction site alongside the members of the media. The Prime Minister interacted with the media and addressed all of their queries regarding the project.

The administration shared that the project will help create more jobs for the locals and improve the local economy of the region. At the same time, the project will also revolutionize the tourism sector of the country.

The Prime Minister reflected that their aim in constructing the cable car is to increase the appeal of Dominica among the tourists. PM Skerrit further talked about the  remarkable attraction, the Boiling lake of Dominica.

He asserted that it is one of the world wonders, and several tourists are not able to see the beautiful destination. PM Skerrit highlighted that people who want to visit the Boiling Lake have to take a trek of over 3 hours.

However, sometimes due to health concerns, physical issues and more, they are still not able to see the boiling lake. The construction of the cable car will alleviate this issue entirely and people from all corners of the world can visit and appreciate the breathtaking “Wonder of Dominica”

PM Roosevelt Skerrit highlighted that the cable car will be the major tourism highlight of the nation. He equated the appeal of the project to some of the most widely known tourist spots in the world, including the Niagra falls in Canada.

The Prime Minister was confident that the project will emerge as a major landmark for Dominica. He also talked about the construction process of the cable car. He highlighted that the best cable car company in the world, coming from Australia is constructing the project.

PM Skerrit noted that the company has taken into account several important variables when working on the project. He has expessed his confidence in the abilities of the company to successfully implement the project.

He tasked the members of the country to promote Dominica as a tourist attraction in the world. He also noted that they need more tourists in the nation in light of which they want to use the project to increase the appeal of the island.

Further, Minister of Tourism, Denise Charles spoke about the project with the media. She highlighted that the Cable Car project definitely will create a lot more traffic in Roseau Valley.

The project will play a crucial role in increasing the economic activity in this area. She also noted that the project will benefit the local community members.

Upon completion of the cable car project, the need for various tourism stakeholders will increase. They will need more tourist guides, taxi operators and other members of the tourism sector.

She further highlighted the other efforts that they are making when it comes to the tourism sector. The Minister of Tourism noted that they are working on capacity building.

They will also promote other tourism projects such as Cabrits Marina which would serve as a transformative project for the yachting sector.
