With an average of 395 infections daily, coronavirus infections are rising in Bulgaria. 314 news cases with no deaths were recorded on July 2.
According to statistics from the Unified Information Portal, 314 new coronavirus cases were reported in Bulgaria on the previous day. 1,663 tests were conducted, and 18.88% of them were positive.
There have been 23 documented cures, and there have been no fatalities from COVID-19. 27 of the 366 hospitalised patients are in intensive care units.
Bulgaria delivered an average of 576 dosages per day over the past reported week. At that pace, it will take an additional 2,423 days to provide dosages sufficient for an extra 10% of the population.
Data submitted on the unified information portal on July 3, the Black Sea coast districts of Varna and Bourgas in Bulgaria have been transferred from Covid-19 green zones to yellow zones.
While the remaining 25 districts are still in the green zones, Varna and Bourgas have joined the city of Sofia in the yellow zone category. Sofia was upgraded from green to yellow zone on June 28.
The national Covid-19 morbidity rate for Bulgaria is 73.1 per 100,000 people, up from 70.31 on July 2 and 65.54 on a 14-day basis on July 1.
Meanwhile, the positivity rates have been rising gradually in Bulgaria. On June 27, the first day of the week, 10.8% of the tests for Covid-19 were positive.
On June 28, it was 11.2%; on June 29, it was 12.5%; on June 30, it was 12.8%; on July 1, it was 13.8%; on July 2, it was 13.8%; and on July 3, it was 18.88%.
The first occurrences of the BA.5 lineage of the Omicron strain were discovered, according to a report released on June 29 by Bulgaria’s National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (NCIPD). This was done after sequencing 88 samples obtained from Covid-19 patients across the nation.
Each of the 88 samples, collected between May 5 and June 3 in 16 of Bulgaria’s 28 districts, showed signs of the Omicron variation or one of its descendants.
