Bulgaria: Number of districts in “GREEN ZONE” rises to 11

Sofia, Bulgaria: The total number of the Bulgarian districts in the category of “Green Zone” has increased. This means that the number of districts in the Balkan state who have a COVID-19 morbidity rate is less than 100 out of 100 000 population on a 14-day basis. 

With this, for the present time, there are at least 11 districts of Bulgaria that are in the Green Zone, which are – Blagoevgrad, Bourgas, Veliko Turnovo, Kurdzhali, Pazardzhik, Pleven, Plovdiv, Razgrad, Smolyan, Stara Zagora and Turgovishte. 

On the other hand, the “YELLOW ZONE” also witnessed a decline to 17 districts from 21. The districts that have a morbidity rate between 100 and 249.9 per 100 000 population on a 14-day basis fall in this zone.  

The capital city of the European nation – Sofia, is also in the yellow zone, which for the present time has a COVID-19 morbidity rate of 226.3 out of 100 000 population on a 14-day basis. Despite being in the yellow zone, this is the highest morbidity rate in Bulgaria. 

Meanwhile, as of today, April 18, 2022, the morbidity rate of the European state stands at 126.83 per 100 000 population on a 14-day basis, which has witnessed a decrease. 

For the present time, there are a total of 2,053,686 individuals who have received their required number of the COVID-19 vaccines and are in the category of fully vaccinated individuals. This number of individuals represents around 29.6% of the total targeted eligible population of Bulgaria so far. 

On the other hand, there are a total of 738,030 individuals in the Balkan state who are fully vaccinated and have also taken their third dose, which is booster shots of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines. This number of Bulgarian nationals represents around 10.7% of the total targeted eligible population, as per the official data.
