Bulgaria confirms 647 fresh COVID infections, 16 deaths

Additional 647 cases of the novel coronavirus were recorded in the last 24 hours in the Balkan state, as per the data shared today (Thursday, April 14, 2022), unified information portal.

Sofia, Bulgaria: Additional 647 cases of the novel coronavirus were recorded in the last 24 hours in the Balkan state, as per the data shared today (Thursday, April 14, 2022), unified information portal. This brings the total number of active cases in Bulgaria to 166,417, according to the data. 

These fresh COVID cases were recorded out of the total additional 9129 tests conducted in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the positivity rate of these new COVID-19 infections stands at 7.09%.

Along with this, a total of 990 patients of the novel coronavirus recovered from the contagious viral illness and got discharged from the hospital facilities, as of April 14, of which around 77.48% belonged to the category of the unvaccinated population.  

The portal’s data further reveals that for the present time, there are a total of 1,134 patients with COVID who are in the hospital facilities. A total of 131 COVID patients are in intensive care units – ICU, as of today, the data further adds.  

In addition, there are a total of sixteen (16) deaths being recorded in the Balkan state in the last 24 hours, bringing the total count of the COVID-19 related fatalities in Bulgaria to 36,756. 

The previous day, a total of an additional 1744 doses of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines were administered at the vaccination centres and sites all across Bulgaria.   

To date, there are a total of 2,052,789 individuals in the European country who have received their required number of COVID-19 vaccines and are now fully vaccinated against viral illness. This number of individuals represents nearly 29.6% of the total targeted eligible population of Bulgaria.  

On the other hand, 733,848 Bulgarian nationals who are fully immunized and have also taken their third dose (booster shots) of the COVID-19 vaccines, representing around 10.6% of the total targeted population, as of April 12, 2022, according to the official data.
