Burgas, Bulgaria – A fire erupted in the Dolno Ezerovo district of Burgas on the evening of July 6, damaging property but resulting in no injuries, according to officials from the Burgas Fire and Rescue Service.
The first emergency call was received at 5:51 p.m. via the national emergency number 112. The caller reported smoke and flames behind a shop located in the courtyard of a residential building on Vit Street, block 4.
Within minutes, at 6:00 p.m., a second alarm was registered, this time reporting a fire affecting a cooperative residential building located at 142 Zahari Zograf Street, also in Dolno Ezerovo.
According to a preliminary report, the fire began at the rear of a shop situated on the ground floor of the residential building. It rapidly spread to two adjacent wooden garages located nearby in the courtyard. Fortunately, the garages were unoccupied at the time of the incident, and no vehicles or individuals were inside.
Residents of both the residential cooperative and the shop managed to evacuate safely before emergency teams arrived at the scene. No injuries were reported, and there was no need for medical intervention, a spokesperson from the Burgas Fire and Rescue Service confirmed.
Three firefighting teams responded promptly to the call and managed to bring the fire under control. The flames were fully extinguished by 6:56 p.m., less than an hour after the first alert was issued. Their quick intervention prevented the fire from spreading further into the residential complex or neighboring properties.
Authorities have secured the area and confirmed that a full inspection is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire. Investigators from the Fire and Rescue Service will examine the origin point behind the shop and assess structural damage to the affected parts of the building and garages.
Eyewitnesses noted a strong smell of smoke and visible flames rising from the garages during the early moments of the fire. One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “It happened so fast—we saw smoke and knew we had to get out. Thank God everyone is okay.”
Firefighters have urged residents to remain cautious and ensure that electrical systems, heating elements, and combustible materials are properly maintained and monitored.
While the exact cause remains unknown, early speculation suggests that the fire could have been sparked by improperly stored flammable materials or an electrical fault behind the shop.
The incident highlights the importance of rapid response and community awareness in preventing injuries during residential fires. The Burgas Fire and Rescue Service praised the swift evacuation efforts and the cooperation of local residents, which contributed significantly to the safe outcome of the event.
Further updates are expected once the official inspection and fire cause analysis are completed.
