SOFIA — April 5, 2025 — Budget airline Wizz Air has announced its most extensive Bulgarian summer schedule to date, offering 47 routes from four major airports across the country.
The expanded summer 2025 offering is set to connect Bulgaria to 15 countries across Europe and the Middle East, with more than 2 million bookings expected during the high travel season.
The airline’s latest move underlines its commitment to providing affordable travel options for both leisure and business travelers.
With ticket prices starting from BGN 61.98, Wizz Air aims to remain a top choice among Bulgarian passengers seeking low-cost connections to popular European cities and sun-soaked destinations.
“We’re excited to offer Bulgarian travelers a record number of routes this summer, connecting them to a wide range of cultural capitals, beach destinations, and vibrant cities,” said a Wizz Air spokesperson.
“This expansion supports tourism and business travel while delivering our promise of low fares and reliable service.”
The airline will operate from four Bulgarian airports: Sofia, Varna, Burgas, and Plovdiv. Sofia remains the primary hub, featuring direct flights to major cities such as London (10 weekly flights), Barcelona (5), Milan Bergamo (7), and Paris Beauvais (3), alongside new destinations like Alghero in Sardinia and Krakow.
Sofia will also see regular service to Tel Aviv, Dortmund, Eindhoven, and Rome Ciampino, among others. Altogether, 25 routes will be operated from the capital.
In Varna, travelers will benefit from 13 routes, including three weekly flights to Abu Dhabi and five to London Luton. German cities like Berlin, Hamburg, and Frankfurt Hahn are also part of the schedule, providing key connectivity to Central Europe.
Burgas, a popular summer seaside destination, will be served by seven routes, including four weekly flights to London Luton and direct connections to Warsaw, Budapest, and Vienna. Meanwhile, Plovdiv will retain its direct link to London Luton, with three weekly flights.
Notable new additions to Wizz Air’s summer network include:
-
Sofia – Alghero (Sardinia): 2 weekly flights
-
Sofia – Krakow: 3 weekly flights
-
Varna – Abu Dhabi: 3 weekly flights
The airline’s expanded network is strategically designed to capture both outbound and inbound travel demand.
With Bulgaria emerging as an increasingly attractive destination for European tourists, the additional capacity is expected to boost local economies and support the tourism sector.
Wizz Air’s competitive pricing and expanded network come at a time when more travelers are seeking cost-effective options amid rising living costs across Europe.
The airline’s consistent focus on secondary airports allows it to maintain low operational costs, which are passed on to passengers through lower fares.
As summer 2025 approaches, Wizz Air’s strengthened presence in Bulgaria positions it as a dominant player in the country’s aviation market.
The airline has signaled its intent to continue growing in the region, promising further route expansions and investment in the near future.
