Telish, Bulgaria – A devastated father is demanding justice after his 12-year-old daughter was killed in a severe traffic accident near the village of Telish on Monday.

Nikolay Popov, the grieving father of Siyana, shared an emotional post on Facebook, expressing his anguish and outrage over the circumstances leading to his daughter’s tragic death.

He accused authorities of negligence, claiming the fatal crash could have been prevented had proper road safety measures been implemented.

According to Popov, his daughter suffered immensely in the aftermath of the crash, dying in agony in the arms of her grandmother while being rushed to the hospital.

He described Siyana as a “wonderful” and “beautiful” child whose life was taken far too soon. His post also pointed to the poor state of the road infrastructure, blaming the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) for ignoring repeated warnings about the dangers of the accident-prone stretch where the crash occurred.

The accident happened on the Byala-Botevgrad road, near the area of Humata, when a truck driven by a 65-year-old man lost control while making a left turn.

The heavy vehicle veered into the oncoming lane, colliding with the passenger car carrying Siyana and her grandfather, 57-year-old Georgi Lambev, a fire chief.

While Siyana succumbed to her injuries in the ambulance, her grandfather remains in critical condition with severe injuries.

Popov’s frustration was further fueled by the alleged behavior of the truck driver following the crash. According to him, the driver did not attempt to help the victims but instead remained in his cab drinking coffee.

Popov also criticized the legal response, calling the charges against the driver “absolutely wrong” and arguing that authorities were failing to hold him properly accountable.

Adding to the father’s anguish was the alarming frequency of accidents on the same road. He noted that just a day before the fatal crash, another truck had overturned on the same stretch, though fortunately without casualties.

His concerns about road safety were reinforced during an interview with bTV, where another truck reportedly nearly struck him and the news crew at the scene.

In his plea for justice, Popov called for the immediate resignation of the RIA management board, insisting that systemic negligence had contributed to his daughter’s death.

He vowed to continue fighting until meaningful changes were made and those responsible were held accountable.

Meanwhile, Bulgarian authorities confirmed that the truck driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident.

He was detained for 24 hours under the Ministry of Internal Affairs Act, and the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.

Siyana’s tragic death has sparked public outcry, with many expressing support for her father’s demands for justice and improved road safety measures.

As the investigation progresses, Popov remains determined to honor his daughter’s memory by ensuring that no other family experiences a similar tragedy.
