The most significant threats were reported in Ruse, where three schools received bomb threat notifications.

These institutions included the Vocational High School of Woodworking and Interior Architecture, the “Otets Paisii” Primary School, and the “Ivan Vazov” Primary School.

The threats were communicated both by phone and email, sparking a swift response from local authorities. Authorities have launched thorough inspections of the schools, following standard procedures for such situations.

In Varna, two schools received threatening emails, but according to the Ministry of Education and Science, the messages were sent to older email addresses that are seldom used.

Despite the alarming nature of the threats, the Ministry confirmed that classes have not been disrupted, and the situation remains under control.

The Ministry of Interior’s Regional Directorate in Varna is conducting a detailed inspection to assess the credibility of the threats, in line with established safety protocols.

The investigations into the bomb threats have been extended across the country. The Cybercrime Directorate of the Main Directorate “Fighting Organized Crime” (GDBOP) has joined the investigation, focusing on the malicious signals received at educational institutions.

Authorities are also collaborating with both Bulgarian and international partner organizations and services to trace the origin of the threatening messages.

Authorities are working closely with foreign hosting companies to track down the perpetrators behind the cyberattacks. While inspections continue, it remains unclear whether the threats are credible or intended to cause disruption.

Once the inspections are concluded, the relevant authorities will assess whether further actions are necessary, including potential security measures at schools.

The bomb threats have sparked concern among parents and school staff, with many expressing relief that no classes have been disrupted so far.

This wave of bomb threats comes amid heightened security concerns globally, with cyberattacks and online threats becoming increasingly common.

Bulgaria’s authorities have called for cooperation from international law enforcement to track down those responsible and hold them accountable.

The Ministry of Interior has urged schools to continue following safety protocols while the investigations proceed. As of the latest update, there have been no reports of any actual threats or injuries related to the bomb threats.

The authorities remain committed to ensuring the safety of students and staff in Bulgaria’s schools. Further updates on the investigations will be provided once more information becomes available.
