In anticipation of an exciting football match this Saturday, November 2, the city of Plovdiv has announced a temporary reorganization of traffic around the “Lokomotiv” stadium.
The adjustments, set to take effect from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., aim to facilitate the smooth flow of fans arriving to witness the showdown between PFC “Lokomotiv” Plovdiv and PFC “CSKA” Sofia.
According to the OP “Organization and Control of Transport,” the temporary measures will include the complete or phased closure of several key streets in the vicinity of the stadium. The affected areas include:
- Lev Tolstoy St.: Closed from the intersection with St. Petersburg Blvd. to the intersection with Prof. St. Tsvetan Lazarov.
- Prof. St. Tsvetan Lazarov: Closed from the intersection with Lev Tolstoy St. to the intersection with Poruchik Boyan Botev St.
- Dimitar Rizov St.: Closed from the intersection with Poruchik Boyan Botev St. to the intersection with Osvobozhdenie Blvd.
The reorganization aims not only to ensure the safe arrival of spectators but also to enhance overall event security, a responsibility overseen by the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior in Plovdiv.
In light of these changes, several bus routes will be temporarily altered to accommodate the road closures. Affected lines include Nos. 9, 10, 21, 25, 29, 66, and 99, with detours established to minimize disruptions for public transport users.
Bus Route Adjustments
Line No. 9 will redirect from “Yuriy Gagarin” Plant through Saedinenie St., turning onto Dimitar Rizov St. before rejoining the main route at A12. The opposite direction will also follow a similar detour.
Line No. 10 will divert via Osvobozhdenie Blvd., making a left turn onto Peño Penev St. and Poruchik Boyan Botev St., returning to the standard route afterward.
Line No. 21 and Line No. 25 will follow similar adjustments as Line No. 9, maintaining service while avoiding closed streets.
Line No. 29 and Line No. 66 will also adjust their routes accordingly, ensuring passengers can still reach their destinations without significant delays.
Lastly, Line No. 99 will see its direction changed to avoid impacted areas while ensuring continuity of service for commuters.
The event is expected to draw a large crowd, making these preparations vital for the safety and convenience of all attendees. Authorities encourage residents and visitors to plan their travel accordingly, consider alternative routes, and allow extra time for their journeys.
As the match day approaches, the excitement in Plovdiv is palpable, with fans eager to support their teams in what promises to be a thrilling contest.
While the traffic adjustments may cause some inconvenience, they are essential for creating a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for football enthusiasts.
Local law enforcement and transport officials urge everyone to be mindful of the changes and remain patient as the city gears up for a day of football celebration.
