Sofia, Bulgaria: Minister of Youth and Sports Dimitar Iliev held a meeting with Real Madrid legend Emilio Butrageno and a delegation from the Real Madrid Foundation. Iliev and Butrageno discussed the activities of the Foundation in Bulgaria and future plans for its development in the country.
In 2016, A sports school has been opened in Vidin to the Foundation, whose primary goal is to integrate underprivileged children and create conditions for a better future through football.
Spanish striker Emilio Butragueo Santos is a retired football player and Real Madrid legend. His time with Real Madrid is what made him most famous. He belonged to the La Quinta del Buitre, which also included Manolo Sanchez, Rafael Martin Vázquez, Michel, and Miguel Pardeza, and went by the moniker El Buitre.
Butrageno stressed that the Real Madrid Foundation plans to open a second school in Bulgaria, which will be located near Sofia. To support the future development of the Vidin School and the activities of the Foundation, a charity auction was organized with exclusive club collectable items supported by MMC.
“I highly value your initiatives that you develop not only in Bulgaria but all over the world. Sport is a powerful social weapon and has a key role in building personality qualities and values,” said the Minister of Youth and Sports.
Iliev emphasizes that through achievements in sports, children have the opportunity to show their skills to the world and experience satisfaction from their efforts.
Nikolina Angelkova, Chairman of the Friends of Sport Foundation, which is a partner of the Real Madrid Foundation and supports the implementation of its activities in Bulgaria, was also present at the meeting. Angelkova expressed her gratitude to the MMS team for their support.
