Sofia, Bulgaria: Deputy Minister of Culture Viktor Stoyanov participated in the celebrations in Poland dedicated to the 1000th anniversary of establishing the remarkable monument to Bulgarian literature – the Suprasilian (“Retkov”) collection. The celebration began yesterday, September 2023, and will continue till September 25.
The celebration marks five hundred years since its transfer to Polish soil and 200 years since its opening in the bookstore of the Suprasil Orthodox Monastery in Northeastern Poland, next to the city of Bialystok. Deputy Culture Minister Stoyanov will be accompanied by the adviser to the Minister of Culture, Mrs Amelia Gesheva.
The celebration is under the honorary patronage of the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria. The main organizer is the Bulgarian Embassy in Warsaw, in partnership with the Bulgarian Cultural Institute.
The program of the jubilee celebration will include an international scientific conference and accompanying events – display of the original manuscript of the “Rare Collection”, presentation of a documentary exhibition, validation of a postcard, opening of a monument and commemorative plaque, and more.
At the international conference between September 22 – 25, 2023, prominent Bulgarians and Slavists from Bulgaria, Poland, and Italy will participate.
