Paralympic vice champion Christian Stoyanov comes to Shipka for the stair climbing competition to the Monument of Freedom.
The competition is a national competition for students from grades 5 to 12, which the Regional Administration – Gabrovo and the Regional Administration of Education in Gabrovo organize every year on the eve of the culmination of the celebrations dedicated to the Shipka epic.
The champion has won at least two medals in his school years from this different race, in which the power of spirit and the desire to step on the Peak of freedom is essential.
Hristiyan Stoyanov will interrupt his training process in Bansko to come specifically for the race, for the joy of the competition without competing, and will be an inspirator, who will also make a special surprise.
What it will be will become clear on Friday after the race’s final, which starts at 10:30 am and ends with the stepping of the 890th step under the fiery gaze of the eternal guardian – the Monument’s Bronze Lion.
More than 100 competitors have signed up for the race this year and will learn more about history, heroism and Bulgarian freedom unconventionally.
This is also the primary mission of the race, in which the students put a lot of effort in their quest for victory, but more important than all, according to the organizers, is that every Bulgarian child climb the highest peak in Bulgarian history and feel Shipka’s charge.
The competition is traditionally supported by SIELA NORMA AD, which gifts winners various luxury editions supporting reading and literacy. Milk and dairy production leader ELVI LLC will help participants recover after a tiring climb with their products.
National celebration of the Shipka epic is held under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria and is organized by the Regional Governor of Gabrovo District with the assistance of the National Park-Museum “Shipka-Buzludzha”, Municipality of Gabrovo, Regional Department of Education – Gabrovo, Rotary Club – Gabroovo, Regional Historical Museum – Gabrovo.
