Haskovo, Bulgaria: The Municipality of Bulgaria informed through its official Facebook account that yesterday, on June 4, 2023, Haskovo hosted the Fifth International Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament, “Queen of Aida.” It’s a two-day event which began yesterday and ends today.

Deputy Mayor of Haskovo Municipality Maria Valcheva congratulated all gymnasts, their coaches and parents who filled the city with grace, beauty and high sportsmanship yesterday and today.

“The world is better when we do such beautiful things,” Maria Valcheva said and thanked the main organizer of the tournament – the chairman of the Haskovo Aida Club, Yana Mihailova.

There are about 600 female gymnasts competing this year in the Queen of Aida International Tournament. Among them are gymnasts from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro. Princess and Queen of Aida were aired yesterday.

“Princess of “Aida” was earned by Adriana Stancheva from the Impala Club – Stara Zagora. Bozena Vasileva from the Rhythmik Club – Shumen was determined as the Queen of “Aida”.

Today, the tournament continues with ensemble performances, gymnastics and aesthetic gymnastics. Deputy Mayor of Haskovo, Maria Valcheva, congratulated Stancheva and Club- Stara Zogara for earning the title “Princess of “Aida”. She also invited the residents of Haskovo to attend the event.

Additionally, the Beach Handball Championship Cup was also played in Haskovo today. Asti 91 won the men’s beach handball state team championship.

Eleven teams from all over the country participated in the championship in Kranevo, and Haskov handball players were the favourites in the first match. In the final, the Haskov team, with captain Dimitar Petkov, defeated the national team of national competitors “In September” and won the Bulgarian championship title.

Asti 91 men are state champions 14 times. “We are the only beach handball team that plays not for the individual awards but for the team victory,” commented captain Dimitar Petkov after the final. Asti 91 will play a series of strong international and national beach handball tournaments in the upcoming summer season.
