Botev Plovdiv, the Bulgarian Football club, congratulated Ume Emmanuel and Tochukwu Nnadi, who plays for the Canaries and currently playing for their country at FIFA under-20 World Cup in Argentina. Representing their homeland Nigeria in the U-20 World Cup, they defeated the host team by 2-0.

It was challenging for Nigeria to play against the under-20 Argentina with incredible attack potential and ball control. Despite the greater ball possession and accuracy, Argentina U-20 failed to keep their nets safe from the Nigerian attack.

As per the stats by FIFA, Argentina took 26 shots, of which five were on target, compared to Nigeria, who just took ten shots due to Argentina’s incredible ball possession and passing technique.

During the match, Argentina held 64% of ball possession with 519 and made 519 passes till the final whistle. The Nigerian side made 282 passes with a ball possession rate of 34%.

Still, Nigeria managed to defeat the South American giant by 2-0, scoring an incredible goal in the game’s last minutes. No goal was scored in the first half due to defensive plays from both sides.

Ibrahim Beji Mohammad scored the match’s opening goal in the 61st minute. Both Botev’s players, Ume, contributed to breaking the deadlock and leading their national team towards victory.

Nnadi started in the first minutes of the meeting, and Ume came in from the bench in the 57th minute. The Canaries football players’ strong performances gave the Flying Eagles the desired success.

In a multi-run attack through Nnadi in the centre, he found Ume, who responded instantly and assisted Ibrahim Muhammad with a precise pass to 0:1 in the 61st minute.

At the end of the match, Nigeria sealed their success after scoring a second decisive hit. Rilwanu Haliru Sarki scored the last-minute goal in 90+1 minute, doubling the lead and ensuring the Nigerian’s victory.

It was a heartbreaking match for Argentina as Nigeria eliminated them in round 16, crushing their World Cup team. Botev Plovdiv congratulated the Nigerian team and Yellow-blacks Ume and Nnadi for their triumph over Argentina.

The Canaries also wished them luck and success in the quarterfinals. On June 4, 2023, Nigeria will face South Korea. The winner will advance to Semi-finals.
