Sofia, Bulgaria: The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy noted that about three hundred people with disabilities worked under employment programs and measures funded by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, with 15 million from the state budget in 2022.
The Bulgarian Ministry of Social Policy provides a significant resource for increasing the qualification of people with disabilities, digitalization of work processes and their inclusion in the labour market.
“Over 830 million will be invested under the Human Resource Development Program and the Recovery and Sustainability Plan. lv. in programs for employment, training, mentoring and professional development of people from diverse target groups,” said Deputy Minister Nadia Klisurska.
She emphasized that people with disabilities have great potential in the labour market, which is underestimated, creating quality and sustainable jobs for people with disabilities and building an accessible environment that encourages their active participation in Bulgaria’s social and economic life.
Nadia underlined that it requires a joint effort from all executive and local government institutions, representatives of social partners, businesses, the civic sector and the scientific community for their overall development.
The Deputy Minister called on employers to show the necessary social responsibility to enable people with disabilities to be included in an appropriate working environment and encouraged them to be informed about all possibilities to receive state support to train and hire such employees.
She recalled that the Agency for Persons with Disabilities had targeted programs, financing projects for rehabilitation, integration, creation and equipping new jobs for people with disabilities.
Deputy Minister Nadia Klisurska highlighted the positive example of the KCM Agricultural Activities Company, which for 20 years has been creating sustainable jobs for people with disabilities. Currently, about 100 disadvantaged people work in it.
