The Council of the International Ski and Snowboarding Federation (FISS) has confirmed the calendars for the 2023/24 World Cup season. This happened during the spring session of the Council held in Zurich on May 24. The 54th FISS Congress is also held there today.
According to the calendar for the new season, Bulgaria will, for the first time in its history, host starts for the Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding World Cup.
The best alpine riders will ride in two of the most attractive disciplines – giant and slalom. Starts will be on February 10 and 11, 2024, in Bansko. The resort is accepting these two disciplines in men for the second time since 2012.
Pamporovo will accept World Cup competitions for the first time. The two starts in the parallel slalom will take place on January 20 and 21.
The confidence FIS voted in Bulgaria is the result of the excellent work the federation has done in organizing the Ski and Snowboarding World Cups since 2007.
During this period, Bulgaria has organized eight skis and three snowboarding in Bansko and one snowboarding World Cup in Sofia, as well as the world youth skiing and snowboarding. Since 2003, Bansko, Borovets, Pamporovo and Osogovo have hosted 13 European alpine skiing and snowboarding cups.
