Chepelare, Bulgaria: Celebrating 25 years since the opening of the Museum of Ski and Ski Sports in the city, on May 18, 2023, at 17:00, flowers were laid on the memorial plaque of the Rhodope Youth Society in front of the high school – Primary School “Vasil Dechev” city entrance.

The plate was opened in 1998 by the last young man – a member of the Vasil Barbov Society, donated by the Ski Factory in the town. Chepelare was made by Stoil Uzunov.

At 5:15 pm at the Museum of Ski and Ski Sports in the Rhodope Spark 1880 Community Center in town. A photo-documentary exhibition, “Memory of the Past”, was dedicated to these anniversaries and opened in Chepelare. Inter historical photographs have sealed the start and development of sporting activity in the municipality of Chepelare and deserve to be viewed and appreciated.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Museum of Ski and Ski Sports – City Chepelare, the attendees were treated to a cake, whose 25 candles were blown by children coming from sports training and the museum’s editor – Svetla Terziyska. Guests were also treated to champagne traditionally in honour of Dimitar Raichev.

The Museum of Ski and Ski Sports received a laptop as a gift for its jubilee birthday from Chepelare Municipality, which was presented with a heartfelt speech and a bouquet for the organizer by Mr Boran Hadzhiev – mayor of Chepelare municipality.

The event was attended by prominent Chepellar athletes, coaches, teachers, sports lovers and citizens. Due to sports commitments out of town, Ekaterina Dafovska and Radoslav Yankov were absent; they expressed sincere regret that they could not personally respect the anniversaries.

Young champion and world youth snowboarding title winner Peter Gergowski set an excellent example to his peers with his achievements and how crucial honouring history and traditions. Those wishing to view the “Memory of the Past” photo-documentary exhibition dedicated to these anniversaries can do it until the end of May.
