Sofia, Bulgaria: Viktor Kirkov, Co-founder & Chairman of Strategic Development of Sports Foundation and CEO at Sports Management Bulgaria, informed through his official Facebook account that yesterday, the thirteenth edition of the Sofia Science Festival, held in Sofia Tech Park from 11 to May 14, was closed.

During the event, he attended two lectures and gained much exciting knowledge. He highly recommends that every resident bring their children to the next edition of the Sofia Science Festival, as it can provide significant educational benefits.

He also attended the event at the invitation of one of its principal organizers Love Kostova (Beautiful Science Foundation). Kirkov was deeply inspired by the great atmosphere and lectures attended.

Kirkov decided to watch Gibbs Kuguru’s presentation on Genetics and Sharks during the event. The lecturer is one of National Geographic’s 2022 scholars and researchers. , which is dedicated to the study of shark DNA.

Gibbs is currently a PhD at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. These movies were anticipated to change public attitudes towards sharks and help protect their populations.

After watching the presentation, Kirkov said, “I haven’t learned many new things, such as that sharks have a gene that allows them to complete body regeneration with severe injuries”.

The second lecture he attended was “Music as Science”, presented by one of the most popular contemporary Bulgarian composers, Georgi Arnaudov.

During the lecture, Kirkov mentioned that he observed that music and science are closely related. He explained that both use mathematical principles and logic combined with creative thinking and inspiration; both walk down unbroken paths and explore every possible detail to reach enlightening and inspiring results.

He suggested that every citizen must attend the next edition with their children and should not miss the upcoming edition of the Sofia Science Festival.

Georgiev Valentinov Georgiev, chairman of the Metropolitan Municipal Council, also shared the glimpse of the 13th edition of the Sofia Science Festival held in Sofia Tech Park through his official Facebook account.

 

He stated that yesterday was the final day of the event, and the programme is beyond fascinating – with accessible and fun events that reveal how the wonders of science and the latest studies from around the world enrich lives, explain familiar phenomena from everyday lives, and bring hope for humanity’s future.

Sofia Science Festival is a celebration of science and technology, with presentations by leading Bulgarian and world scientists, discussions, demonstrations, interactive workshops for students and adults, and an interdisciplinary exhibition of the interaction between science and art.

The Beautiful Science Foundation organizes the festival under the custom of the Ministry of Education and Science and is part of the Calendar of Cultural Events of the Metropolitan Municipality.
