
Sofia, Bulgaria: Georgi Valentinov Georgiev, chairman of the Metropolitan Municipal Council, stated that yesterday, he started the ‘Lunar festival’. He noted until Sunday inclusive, the Sofian residents will be able to enjoy the 24 light and sound installations on iconic buildings across the city.
Georgiev commented that he had taken care of the subway to run until 01:00 on the festival days, which will be held every evening until 14th May from 21:00 to 00:00.
Last year the festival was visited by over 500,000 citizens and guests of Sofia; the Municipality’s chairman believes that sure this year, the Sofian residents will manage to break this record.
He said, “I am extremely proud that Metropolitan Municipality and the Metropolitan Municipal Council are co-organizers of this event. Honored to be a patron of the most successful city festival”.
On his official Facebook account, Georgiev expressed his excitement and remarked that he was again honoured to be a patron of this visual arts festival. He added that artists worldwide will tell stories through their exciting 3D mapping projections and light installations on our city’s iconic buildings.
He appreciated the artists from @TAG, with whom the Sofian Municipality has worked for nearly a year to make the capital shine with new light.
During the festival days from 21.00 until midnight, the following movement organization will be created:
Vehicles will be prohibited from entering the Blvd. “Tzar Liberator” from the street. “G. S. Rakovski” to square. “Independence” by skipping non-moving traffic on the Blvd. “Prince Al. Dondukov”.

For additional security of the location in front of the National Library “St. S. Cyril and Methodius, the sidewalk will be physically organic from the roadway. If necessary, the SDVR road police and the APP to the CO will limit movement partially or entirely along the route.
For the period from 11.05-14.05, “Metropolitan” will extend the working hours of subways to 01:00 hours with movement intervals in the respective sections, as follows:
– metro station “Slivnitsa” – metro station “Mladost 1” – fifteen minutes;
– Gorna Banya metro station – Hadji Dimitar metro station – twenty minutes;
– metro station “Mladost 1” – Sofia Airport metro station – thirty minutes;
– metro station “Mladost 1” – metro station “Business Park” – thirty minutes;
– Slivnitsa metro station – Vitosha metro station – thirty minutes.
