The Bulgarian Ministry of Culture has published the National Program for celebrating the traditional European initiative “Night of Museums”, which will take place this Saturday on May 13, 2023.

The national program for the nineteenth edition of the initiative was prepared by the Ministry’s Cultural Heritage, Museums and Fine Arts Directorate. It included: thematic exhibitions, concerts, various art events and special events dedicated to the Night.

A total of 76 state and municipal museums and art galleries, as well as their branches from 25 regions in the country, will participate in the initiative this year. They will welcome visitors with free admission.

The European Museum Night was organized for the first time in 2005. by the French Ministry of Culture, and in just a few years, the initiative has been successfully spreading throughout Europe. Bulgarian museums and galleries are included in its first edition.

In its format, the European Night of Museums is a program widely open to the largest possible group of people who have the opportunity not only to touch the exhibits and works presented by museums and galleries but also to feel their messages.

The concept of the initiative is to reach out to a large circle of people, with an emphasis – on the young audience, through the presentation of an unusual and attractive program that, besides the opportunity to get acquainted with cultural heritage, offers other cultural manifestations.

The Bulgarian Cultural Ministry also announced that On May 12 2023, Friday, at 11:00, the renovated Ethnographic Museum of Burgas will be officially opened. The repair was completed according to a project by Burgas Municipality and is worth 920 000 BGN.

Following the ceremonial water lighting and ribbon cutting, official guests will view the museum’s renewed exposure, renovated courtyard space, newly built storage, open stage, Ethno Cuisine, Ethno Cafe and the two restoration workshops – for metal and ceramics.
