Sofia, Bulgaria: Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov informed that yesterday, he signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Bulgarian Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Health and Local Government, which provides additional medical assistance across the Black Sea.

This year, during the summer active season, additional medical teams will be provided along the North and South Black Sea coast. This was carried out on the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Health initiative, together with the Black Sea local authority and the academic community in maritime cities.

To make this happen, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed yesterday between the springs ministries, Pirogov Hospital and Burgas, with the Tsarevo, Primorsko and Sozopol municipalities.

He stated that the goal of this cooperation is with additional teams to ensure even more adequate medical care to tourists and Bulgarian citizens during the busy summer season, thus meeting the expectations of tourists who prefer to travel to resorts where there are good conditions, tranquillity and security, in this number and high-level medical service.

Minister Dimitrov commented that he was happy with the cooperation that happened yesterday. The safety of tourists and the provision of adequate medical care are fundamental to any tourist service. He emphasizes that We can’t talk about tourism without talking about secured healthcare.

The tourism Minister thanked Minister Mezhidiev (Health Minister), who helped the tourism Ministry last summer with additional medical teams on the Black Sea. “He is a true friend of tourism”, said Dimitrov.

He noted that The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Tourism managed to create the necessary organization in an extremely short time frame to enable emergency teams to function on the territory of Primorsko.

This will provide an additional opportunity to provide prompt and quality emergency medical care to Black Sea resorts, which increase their numbers significantly in the active season.

At the moment, branches have been opened in the cities of Tsarevo and Sozopol for the provision of emergency assistance on the southern Black Sea coast.

Minister Dimitrov added that to shorten the arrival time of ambulances, the Primorsko Emergency Medical Branch opened yesterday, May 3, 2023. , by the decision of the Council of Ministers, it will have two teams – one mobile and one stationary, that will work around the clock.

By signing the memorandum yesterday, a general commitment of state and local authorities is declared to make maximum endeavours to contribute to the expansion of out-of-hospital medical care on the territory of the municipalities of Tsarevo, Sozopol and Primorsko.

The document is also a peculiar declaration, which indicates that only the combined efforts of the institutions can improve the quality of health services offered across the Black Sea during the active summer season.

Along with that, the tourism Minister informed that opening a Branch for Emergency Medical Care in the town of Sarnitsa to the Emergency Medical Center – Pazardzhik is also upcoming.

He also highlighted that securing additional teams was one of the first steps that the official cabinet took when it took office last summer. In early August, ten emergency medical teams were deployed to the hospital. Golden Sands, Nessebar and Primorsko, to assist their Black Sea colleagues in delivering 24/7 emergency medical care.
