Georgi Valentinov Georgiev, chairman of the Metropolitan Municipal Council Sofia, reported that yesterday with Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, Head of the Regional Department of Education, Mrs Vanya Kastreva and Deputy. -Mayor of Education Miroslav Borshosh attended the consecration of Bulgarian flags and donated to metropolitan schools, kindergartens and nurseries, whether municipal, public or private.

On March 3, more than 600 Bulgarian flags flew over Sofia’s educational institutions. Georgiev noted that it was made possible by his fellow municipal councillors, who accepted their proposal with the deputy. -Mayor Miroslav Borshosh to donate the national flag to all educational institutions on the occasion of the Day of the Liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman Rule.

The Council’s head emphasized added that this patriotic endeavour has two goals. To educate all the children and youth of Sofia together in love with their homeland and Bulgarian national flag in the timeless values of patriotism.

The second task is to mark Bulgarian national holidays in a new way as a city administration. Georgiev outlined that he was happy to present the Bulgarian flag to the Director of Kindergarten No. 127, “Sun” Mrs Tatiana Bakalova, in the presence of her pets.

He thanked Ms Emilia Lazarova – Director of the Second English Language High School, for the daily efforts to educate children and the wonderful celebration organizing.

Yordanka Fandakova, Mayor of Sofia Municipality, also addressed the capital. Bulgaria, yesterday remarks 145 years since the liberation from Ottoman rule.

Speaking about Bulgarian assistance to Turkey as the neighbouring country suffering from enormous losses from multiple earthquakes that occurred on February 6.

Mayor Fandakova said, “On today’s holiday, I presented certificates of honour to 29 employees of the Emergency Directorate of Metropolitan Municipality, thanks to whom Bulgaria was the foremost country in the European Union to participate in rescue operations just a few hours after the earthquake”.

She remarked that honourable and selfless Bulgarians showed the world their courage and compassion for the Bulgarian people and thanked all the boys and girls of the directorate for their daily work in helping the citizens of Sofia.

Mayor Fandakova also mentioned that there is no compensation for this missed time with loved ones, but their dedication is an infectious example of professionalism and humanity.
