Leading Bulgarian alpineer Albert Popov held a general rehearsal on February 17 for his participation in Sunday’s slalom, finishing the 47th world skiing in Kurshevel / Meribel (France).

The 25-year-old Popov participated in the giant slalom just a day after taking third place in qualifying, which was, however, held on another track in the resort. Despite not coaching giant slalom last year, he gave 35th time out of 100 competitors from 64 nations.

The title in the giant slalom was won by Marco Odermatt (Switzerland), ahead of Loik Meyer (Switzerland) and Marco Schwartz (Av).

The birthday boy Kosyo Stoilov today was unlucky and did not finish the first match, as did Kalin Zlatkov, to whom his automatic opened on one ska in the middle of the route. Stoilov and Zlatkov will participate in slalom qualifications tomorrow.

Albert Popov and Kamen Zlatkov have the right points, and tomorrow will use the day for final preparation and tuning for the Sunday slalom.

He said, “I’m not happy with my performance, but after all, we didn’t train in this discipline for two years. Participated in the Giant today to relieve some tension and get on the track”.

“Our idea was to feel the field and have another start before slalom so that the focus is not just slalom. The real goal is on Sunday. Overall, I’m glad I drove today because it was fun, on the one hand. Keep your fingers crossed for Sunday. Tomorrow I will rest and hope to be as fresh as possible on Sunday, commented Albert after the race”.

“I made a stable top in the first cuff, but unfortunately, I did not finish.” We gather strength for the next two days and hope for better results, Konstantin Stoilov said.

“The race was very good.” The track was perfectly prepared for this race. The trail was pretty icy. I drove well at the top but fell out after problems with the machine, Kalin Zlatkov said.
