Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Irena Dimitrova considers Bulgarian schools situated in foreign countries as the hotbeds to spread the Bulgarian culture through education. The Association of Bulgarian Schools Abroad was established on August 15, 2007. It promotes the activities of Bulgarian schools to encourage the Bulgarian language and culture. Bulgarian schools outside the country act as a catalyst to spread the Bulgarian culture through education.
“Bulgarian schools abroad have an irreplaceable role in education, culture and diplomacy. Not only do they maintain a vital connection to the homeland, but they also provide an invaluable opportunity to receive a Bulgarian education that connects our compatriots abroad for life with our culture and society. Bulgarian schools abroad are the living outbreaks of patriotism and enlightenment”. This was said by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Irena Dimitrova, a guest of the Conference of the Association of Bulgarian Schools Abroad (ABUCH), organized on its 15th anniversary.
Deputy Minister Dimitrova stressed as a priority in the activities of our diplomatic missions the support of Bulgarian schools abroad, as well as the active work to open new ones.
Irena Dimitrova awarded the President of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Dr Irina Boteva-Vladikova, a gold medal of honour to BNU Cyril and Methodius in Vienna.
Emphasizing the importance of this step, Deputy Minister Dimitrova said that opening new Bulgarian schools is a priority in the activity of their diplomatic missions. With that, Dimitrova said that a highly virtuous objective backs the motivation of this activity.
During this occasion, a short movie elaborating on the history and creation of ABUCH was screened. Irena Dimitrova, on behalf of the Ministry of foreign affairs, congratulated the students and staff of the Bulgarian schools and guaranteed them to act faithfully to support the activities of the Association.
Ambassador of Bulgaria to Ukraine Kostadin Kojabashev, Daniel Sirakova, the form first secretary at the Bulgarian Embassy in Washington, Stefan Dimitrov and Ivan Anchev, the former consuls in Chicago and Germany, were among those who were felicitated with the esteemed plaque of ABUCH.
