Bulgaria and Australia celebrate fifty years of diplomatic relations

The Ministry of foreign affairs of Bulgaria uploaded a picture on its social media handles celebrating 50 years of steadfast relations between both countries. Bulgaria and Australia cooperate in several sectors, including counter-terrorism, illegal movements of people, international trafficking in drugs and other criminal arenas. On April 5 1972, Australia and Bulgaria established solid diplomatic relations with Australia.

The Ministry of foreign affairs of Bulgaria uploaded a picture on its social media handles celebrating 50 years of steadfast relations between both countries. Bulgaria and Australia cooperate in several sectors, including counter-terrorism, illegal movements of people, international trafficking in drugs and other criminal arenas. On April 5 1972, Australia and Bulgaria established solid diplomatic relations with Australia.

The friendship between both countries dates back to mid 19th century when the first Bulgarian migrants visited Australia. Since then, the countries have enjoyed a good relationship and shared a commitment to free trade, democracy, and the rule of law.

To emphasize this, the Ministry of foreign affairs of Bulgaria uploaded a picture on its social media handle to celebrate the bond between the countries. As a tribute to the cordial relationship, the Bulgarian Ministry of Affairs also posted archive documents and historic photos from the collections of the National Library of Australia, the Bulgarian agency and the Parliament of Australia.

Marking the 50th Anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the countries, Australia also named a street in Macanamara will be called on the Bulgarian- Australian Emeritus Professor Stephen Kaneff.

As gratitude and tribute to the friendship, Bulgarian’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched a 50- stories project where they will post stories about Bulgarians and Australians who have contributed to the development of the relations between both countries in various areas. They will include a total of fifty such people.

Some pictures in the picture gallery include the concept of Bulgarian middle-weight freestyle wrestler and Merited master of sport Nikol Stanchev, winner of the gold medal at Melbourne Game 1956.

Another picture was from June 21 1996, showing the welcome of an Australian government delegation led by Sir John McEwen. There are many other images of significant events in the past about strengthening the friendship and political as well as geographical relations between the countries.

With that, there are posted some documents from various books
From December 1965 to October 1998. This shows the togetherness of both the countries and the professional respect between both the countries and this step attested to a strong friendship between both the countries in the long run.
