Sofia, Bulgaria: According to recent data shared on the dedicated government portal, the number of the present Ukrainian refugees in Bulgaria witnessed a decline, dropping below the margin of 100,000 and reaching 99 193. The data published is until May 23, 2022.
As per statistics, since May 14, 2022, nearly 4000 Ukrainian nationals have left Bulgaria.
For the present time, there are a total of 60 290 Ukraine nationals who have obtained accommodation in the European country. In addition, the Tourism Ministry of the country notified that registrations had been commenced from May 22, 2022, onwards for hotels to participate in the programme, which will be in effect after May 31, 2022.
Hotels are welcome to register themselves till May 25, the statement of the tourism ministry adds.
The previous week, the Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov led administration reallocated five million leva in EU funds for resettlement and internal transport costs of Ukrainians (for those who possess temporary health protection in the Balkan state).
Besides this, a portal was also set up by the Bulgarian administration to know how many Ukraine nationals are willing to stay in the European country who will be provided accommodation under the new scheme.
Since the beginning of the war, nearly 9 million Ukrainian nationals have fled the war land and taken shelter in other nations. The war has now entered its 89th day.
As the days pass, the hopes of Ukraine nationals of ending the war and returning back to their homeland are vanishing. However, the Ukrainian Vlodomyr Zelenskyy is pretty sure that the country will defeat Russian troops.
