Bulgaria today, on May 6, 2022, marks its “Armed Forces Day”, which comes with a national holiday. The event is denoted by military parades, fireworks and ceremonies across the country.
The official account of the Bulgarian delegation to NATO asserted, “May 6, on which we celebrate the Bravery Day and Armed Forces Day, also SaintGeorge Day, was marked at NATO HQ with the participation of the members of the Military Committee and Chair of the NATO Military Committee and Bulgaria’s Ministry of Defence.
“There is something to show about armaments; we must trust the Bulgarian army and help it. Bulgaria has enough resources to repair Ukrainian military equipment. There is a division in Bulgarian society regarding military aid for Ukraine. Fearing that the war could spread to a wide range in Europe and the region, the task of an organization such as NATO is to prevent such a scenario. Diplomacy is the option to follow, not war”, the Minister added.
Following the above statement, the Minister cited that the Bulgarian citizens should respect not only its army but also show trust in them. The day is celebrated with the consecration of battle flags and sacred flags and demonstrations of the capabilities of the Armed Forces.
Last year, the parade took place with anti-pandemic measures took place at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier near Saint Sophia Church in the capital city of Bulgaria – Sofia. The day is also observed as Bravery Day.
