On the agreement, the Chairman of the Management Board and Chief Executive Officer of A1 Bulgaria – Alexander Dimitrov, stated, “The climate change is no doubt the biggest challenge of the 21st century. While digital technologies can help sustainable development, the unprecedented global data usage during the novel coronavirus pandemic has caused our industry to consume more energy than ever before.”

The Chairman, following the above statement, then underscored, “As part of A1 Telekom Austria Group, we are aware of our responsibility towards the environment and has set an ambitious environmental target: reducing CO2 emissions to net-zero by 2030. Meanwhile, Renalfa Yuri Katanov – the Executive Director of the GSM mobile phone operator, noted A1 contains an “innovative great business model”.

Katanov said, “The Corporate PPAs is providing a competitive benefit to enterprises by ensuring long-term energy supply at a – fixed price as compared to the volatile energy markets.”

“At the same time, this energy is clean & with proven RES origin, which significantly reduces the carbon footprint of the companies, contributes to a safer and cleaner environment and increase their ESG (environmental, social and governance) ratings”, the Executive Director then added.
