SOFIA — eMAG Bulgaria has rolled out a dual currency display feature across its e-commerce platform, allowing customers to view prices in both Bulgarian levs (BGN) and euros (EUR).

The change, which took effect this week, aims to enhance shopping transparency and ease the transition for consumers ahead of Bulgaria’s anticipated euro adoption.

The new pricing feature is now available on all product pages, shopping carts, and final order summaries on the eMAG website. Prices are automatically converted using the official exchange rate, offering shoppers a clear understanding of how much their purchases would cost in euros.

“This update is part of our ongoing mission to improve the customer experience,” said Silviu Gugui, Manager of eMAG Bulgaria. “The introduction of euro pricing brings greater transparency, helping customers adjust before the official transition period begins. It’s about offering clarity, security, and convenience.”

Gugui emphasized that the feature also helps build trust with consumers by aligning the shopping experience with broader economic changes. Bulgaria plans to join the eurozone in the coming years, making currency duality a timely addition for businesses and consumers alike.

The dual currency display will soon be available on eMAG’s mobile application, further expanding accessibility for users across all platforms. The retailer says the integration reflects its commitment to continuous innovation in the digital retail space.

As online shopping becomes increasingly embedded in everyday life, eMAG has positioned itself as a leader in e-commerce solutions tailored to modern consumer needs.

The company’s Bulgarian platform offers more than 10 million products from over 17,000 Marketplace merchants, spanning categories from electronics and home appliances to beauty, fashion, sports, and automotive.

In addition to the new currency display, eMAG customers continue to benefit from fast and flexible delivery options, including courier services, home delivery, and the retailer’s expanding easybox locker network.

eMAG’s Genius subscription service also remains a major draw, offering free delivery, exclusive deals, and additional cost-saving features for frequent shoppers.

Founded in Romania in 2001, eMAG has grown into a dominant regional player, with operations extending to Bulgaria and Hungary.

Its Bulgarian arm has seen rapid growth amid a broader national trend toward digital shopping, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent changes in consumer behavior.

According to market analysts, innovations like dual currency pricing could become a competitive differentiator as Bulgaria edges closer to euro adoption.

“Retailers that prepare early for the euro transition will likely gain consumer loyalty and market share,” said Dimitar Ivanov, an economist with Sofia-based consultancy EuroTrend.

For eMAG, the latest move underscores its strategy of staying ahead of the curve. “We listen to our customers and anticipate their needs,” Gugui said. “With this update, we’re making it even easier for Bulgarians to shop with confidence.”

As Bulgaria advances toward eurozone integration, initiatives like these are expected to play a key role in easing the transition for businesses and consumers alike.
