Dominica: Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit has extended his gratitude to the Ambassador Roger Nyhus for presenting him with a symbolic gift known as Diplomatic Feather.
He shared the photograph officially on his Facebook page and thanked Ambassador Roger Nyhus for his kind expression of friendship. He highlighted that Dominica values its partnership with the United States and looks forward to strengthen their bonds of friendship.
US Embassy Bridgetown has also shared regarding the same and invited all to celebrate the strong bond between the United States and Dominica, while Ambassador Nyhus presented Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit of Dominica with a symbolic gift, that is Diplomatic Feather.
The Beautiful feather is crafted by Seattle-based Lummi Nation glass artist Dan Friday in collaboration with Stonington Gallery that represents wisdom, trust and strength.
Diplomatic Feather intertwines with the colours of Dominica’s flag with the cultural significance feathers that holds in the Native American tradition.
However, as a proud member of the Chinook Indian Nation, Ambassador Nyhus has commissioned the feather to honour the enduring partnership and friendship between the United States and Dominica.
Reportedly, the presenting of Diplomatic Feather was witnessed by the US Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs – Brian Nichols, US Ambassador to Dominica and the Eastern Caribbean – Roger Nyhus, Prime Minister of Dominica – Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, US Secretary of the Interior – Deb Haaland, US Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs – Michele Sison and Foreign Minister of Dominica – Vince Henderson.
PM Skerrit has received this reward during his recent visit to 4th SIDS Conference that is being hosted at the Antigua and Barbuda. They met in a bilateral meeting which was organised on the sidelines of the 4th SIDS International Conference.
There the Prime Minister was honoured in the presence of various dignitaries from the US and Dominica.
As per the sources, PM Skerrit and Ambassador Roger Nyhus have been participating in various productive meetings with the Ministers of other Caribbean Island nations to strengthen the relationships and share the vision to fight against the major challenges that are faced by the small island developing states.
