Castries, Saint Lucia: Philip J. Pierre, Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, informed through its official Facebook account that yesterday, he participated in the Annual Honouring Ceremony and Math Quiz of Castries East.
As the Parliamentary Representative, he emphasizes that he was grateful for the opportunity to host this event for the consecutive 15th year.
During the competition, a Match quiz was organized in the Eastern region of Castries, where numerous children from different schools and constituencies participated, showing their maths skills and knowledge.
PM Philip highlights that such competitions help students in developing the ability to self-assess. It enables them to identify their skills, interests and weaker points and encourages them to work on a plan of action to improve. Such qualities enhance students’ overall performance and provide a strong foundation for their future endeavours.
The Math Quiz was keenly contested amongst six students, all from the Constituency. Participants received school supplies and the winner, a laptop. Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre noted that the government of Saint Lucia will make every effort to encourage students to gain education and become good citizens of the country.
In his social media post, PM Philip wrote, “I have witnessed the power that education can have in changing the fortunes of generations of families, and I remain committed to providing opportunities to improve the lives of all children in this country”.
He explained that education has the power to change the fortunes of the family and their upcoming generation, and he experienced that power. That’s why PM Philip is committed to encouraging children to gain more education and knowledge so they can be more skilful, creative, disciplined and confident.
Prime Minister J. Pierre asserted that such competition increases children’s curiosity, improving their overall performance and enhancing their abilities. He remarked that the Government of Saint Lucia is committed to giving their children a bright future and anticipates organizing more educational events.
